Holding it down for History!

As the lone rep so far from the History department, I have to ask...how long does it take for a word to officially enter the english language?  "Blogosphere" kind of came out of nowhere.   Are we allowing any word as long as we give it meaning?  I want to add a new one.  How about "Blogcrastinate"?  It means writing in a blog instead of writing midterm letters.
